The emergence of USUV in Europe draws our attention to how an arbovirus is able to spread, adapt, and evolve in a unconventional environment. Understanding the epidemiological and evolutionary processes that contribute to the appearance, maintenance, and further spread of viral diseases is the key to develop and implement surveillance strategies to control them. The aim of the present systematic review was to compile and evaluate all the published data on USUV from studies performed in humans, animals, and environmental samples in the Iberian Peninsula. The electronic databases Mendeley, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were thoroughly searched, and research published up until July 6th 2024 were included. After full reading and application of PRISMA exclusion/inclusion criteria, a total of 20 eligible papers were considered. Overall, the present review shows that USUV is circulating in humans, animals and in the environment in the Iberian Peninsula.engArbovirusFlavivirusInfectionUSUVZoonoticUsutu virus in the Iberian peninsula: A systematic reviewreview articlehttps://doi.org/10.2298/vetgl240822001l
