Abstract(s)
Objetivo
Avaliar o impacto de um programa de educação
de prevenção de quedas, na adaptação ambiental
e autoeficácia para o exercício, em adultos mais
velhos.
Materiais e Métodos
Foram avaliados vinte e seis participantes sendo
estes divididos em dois grupos: I - grupo de controlo
(n= 10) e II – grupo de intervenção (n= 16). Foram
avaliados, nos períodos pré (T0) e pós intervenção
(T1), através dos instrumentos: Checklist de
Adaptação Ambiental e Escala de Autoeficácia para
o Exercício.
Resultados Principais
Ambos os grupos continuaram com as atividades
dinamizadas pela instituição em que estavam
inseridas, sendo que o grupo II (intervenção)
participou também num programa de educação
para a prevenção de quedas, tendo obtido melhorias
significativas em alguns parâmetros da Checklist
de Adaptação Ambiental, enquanto que na Escala
de Autoeficácia para o Exercício não existiram
diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre T0
e T1.
Conclusão
Podemos inferir que um programa de educação
focado na prevenção de quedas, poderá ter
benefícios na adaptação do ambiente envolvente,
permitindo assim, uma potencial diminuição de
alguns dos fatores de risco de queda associados ao
ambiente doméstico.
ABSTRACT: Objective Evaluate the impact of a fall prevention education program on environmental adaptation and selfefficacy for exercise in older adults. Materials and Methods Twenty-six participants were evaluated and divided into two groups: I - control group (n= 10) and II - intervention group (n= 16). They were evaluated, in the periods before (T0) and after intervention (T1), through the instruments: Checklist of Environmental Adaptation and Self-efficacy Scale for the Exercise. Main results Both groups continued with the activities promoted by the institution in which they were inserted, and group II (intervention) also participated in a fall prevention education program, having obtained significant improvements in some parameters of the Environmental Adaptation Checklist, while in the Self-efficacy Scale for the Exercise there were no statistically significant differences between T0 and T1. Conclusion We can infer that an education program focused on fall prevention may have benefits in the adaptation of the surrounding environment, thus allowing a potential decrease of some of the fall risk factors associated with the domestic environment.
