Abstract(s)
apresentou resultados interpretáveis, dentro do conceito de nicho ecológico.
Abstract In the area of the of Valhelhas and Vale de Amoreira parishes, respectively belonging to the municipalities of Guarda and Covilhã, both on Guarda district, there is a lot of potential, and about 40% of this area covered by Forest Perimeter of Valhelhas and 67% of the area of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. This study had as its main objective, the predictive mapping of forest potential natural vegetation communities, with recourse to the use of a geographic information system (GIS), based on the survey and characterization of the respective Vegetation Series. So ran the drafting of the predictive Map of Forestry Potential Natural Vegetation (VNFP) in the study area, according to the model of vegetation known and described for mainland Portugal, making an unambiguous relationship crossing the spatial information contained in themes about the characteristics of bioclimate, lithology and soils in a biogeographical context. Based on the crossing of all this information, it was possible to establish the relationship between the combination of the variables mentioned and the Vegetation Series considered as the set of stages of succession of vegetation communities. The VNFP predictive map was validated based on knowledge in the existing vegetation series in the territory and it was found that the application of the model presented interpretable results, within the concept of the ecological niche.
