Abstract(s)
In this investigation, the main objective was to identify the profile decision-making style of the professional situations of an adapted sports coach who recently graduated in the area, of IPCB. In this study, the sample was constituted of 47 persons (N=47), of which 16 are recently graduated and the remaining, 31, are adapted sports coaches who participate in Special Olympics Portugal. Five of the recently graduated (31,3 %) are men and eleven (68,8%) are women. Ten of the coaches (32,3%) are women and twenty-one (67,7%) are men. To achieve the proposed objectives it was used, as data collection tools, the Coach Profile Questionnaire, and the Sport Coach Decision Style. The data obtained were analyzed in the following variables: gender, years of experience, and years to conclude the bachelor’s degree. The investigation methodology to use relatively to quality is quantitative, as for the dynamics it is static, regarding perspective it is considered transversal, and lastly, it is classified, in terms of dimension, targeted to population. The results show that the coach profile predominant in adapted sport is the “Innovative” profile, despite this predominance change according to the professional situation because the recently graduated preferences relapse in the “Collaborator” profile followed by the “Innovative” profile. We can infer that the predominant decision-making style is the “Democratic” in both professional situations. Therefore, it can be verified that the coaches of this area are reflective and non-conformists, constantly looking for new solutions to adapt training to the effective needs of athletes with the requirement of a trusty climate between them and a decision-making style performed by the coach following the athletes. Finally, the results allowed us to conclude that the recently graduated in the adapted sport of IPCB adopted a profile and a decision-making style very closed without significant differences when compared to adapted sports coaches who participated in Special Olympics, which goes against the analyzed literature about profile and decision-making style which aims sports success of a disabled person.
