A realização do presente trabalho tem como principal objetivo analisar de que forma as empresas socialmente responsáveis interpretam o tema e o colocam em prática, considerando os benefícios e barreiras aquando da implementação de práticas de responsabilidade social (RS), destacando as oportunidades e dificuldades decorrentes da colaboração com organizações do terceiro setor. Para atingir esse objetivo, o estudo alicerçou-se numa análise qualitativa de dados que teve por base uma amostra de treze elementos, constituída por empresas de diversos setores de atividade. Posteriormente procedeu-se à sua análise com recurso ao software NVivo para o tratamento de dados. Concluiu-se que a RS sugere diferentes interpretações por parte das empresas, considerando o principal benefício a criação de um ambiente interno motivador. A resistência interna constitui o principal entrave à sua implementação, e a falta de transparência das organizações do terceiro setor revela-se como uma dificuldade em termos de colaboração, apesar de se verificarem oportunidades que beneficiem ambas as partes.
ABSTRACT: The main objective of this study is to analyze how socially responsible companies interpret the theme and put it into practice, considering the benefits and barriers when implementing SR practices, highlighting the opportunities and difficulties arising from collaboration with third sector organizations. To achieve this objective, the study was based on a qualitative analysis of data that had the basis of a sample of thirteen elements, constituted by companies of the most diverse sectors of activity. Subsequently it was analysed trough NVivo software. It was concluded that the SR suggests different interpretations by the companies, considering the main benefit is the creation of a motivating internal environment. Internal resistance is the main impediment to its implementation, and the lack of transparency of third sector organizations proves to be a difficulty in terms of collaboration, despite opportunities that benefit both parts.
