Abstract(s)
Abstract: This study investigated the effects of a physical activity program on physical and psychological variables in women with breast cancer. The sample consisted of 16 women with breast cancer who were between 39 and 76 years old (mean age: 55.83 ± 9.33) and lived in the province of Cáceres, Spain. Participants underwent a supervised physical activity program consisting of biweekly 40- to 60-minute sessions to assess changes in body composition and psychological well-being. However, no significant differences were found in physical variables, with only a small effect size observed in basal metabolism and skeletal muscle mass. This was not statistically significant. Positive correlations were found between behavioral regulation and social wellbeing, indicating that participants recognized the benefits of physical activity (PA) and that these benefits improved their social interactions. Similarly, positive correlations were found between physical, emotional, and functional well-being. The program effectively increased skeletal muscle mass and improved psychological variables, such as social, emotional, and functional well-being. It also increased the women's perception of competence and autonomy.
