Abstract(s)
Este Trabalho de Projeto analisa as relações intergeracionais entre avós e netos na freguesia de Alpedrinha, explorando as transformações sociais, culturais e demográficas que têm moldado essas dinâmicas ao longo do tempo. Em Portugal, a população está a envelhecer, e em lugares como Alpedrinha, isso sente-se no dia a dia. Os avós continuam a ser a alma das famílias, carregando histórias, ensinamentos e um amor incondicional que une gerações.
A metodologia adotada combina abordagens qualitativas e quantitativas, incluindo a Escala de Significados da Grã-Parentalidade, adaptada à realidade portuguesa por Peixoto e Gonçalves (2014), a realização de Focus Group e de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Estas ferramentas permitiram compreender como mudanças históricas, a crescente urbanização e o avanço tecnológico, influenciaram as interações entre as gerações. Os resultados evidenciam uma transformação nos papéis desempenhados pelos avós: enquanto no passado eram figuras de autoridade e conviviam diariamente com os netos, hoje enfrentam desafios relacionados à proximidade física e digital.
A pesquisa destaca também a relevância da transmissão de memórias e tradições culturais, expressa em práticas como a partilha de histórias e celebrações locais. Contudo, a tecnologia é frequentemente mencionada pelas avós como um fator de distanciamento emocional, limitando as interações familiares. Mesmo com esses desafios, as tradições continuam vivas em Alpedrinha, passadas de geração em geração, e os laços entre avós e netos continuam a tecer a identidade da comunidade, mantendo vivo o sentimento de pertença e continuidade entre gerações.
Os dados mostram que, apesar das mudanças na forma como as famílias vivem e se relacionam, os avós continuam a ser uma presença essencial na vida dos netos. São eles que guardam e partilham histórias, ensinam valores e acompanham o crescimento das novas gerações, ajustando-se, com afeto e sabedoria, aos desafios dos tempos modernos. Este Trabalho de Projeto apresenta sugestões de intervenções que promovem o envelhecimento ativo e reforçam a importância das relações intergeracionais, fundamentais para a coesão familiar e para o bem-estar social.
Abstract : This project analyzes the intergenerational relationships between grandparents and grandchildren in the parish of Alpedrinha, exploring the social, cultural and demographic changes that have shaped these dynamics over time. In Portugal, the population is ageing, and in places like Alpedrinha, this is felt daily. Grandparents continue to be the soul of families, carrying stories, teachings and an unconditional love that unites generations. The methodology adopted combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, including the Scale of Meanings of Grand Parenthood, adapted to the portuguese reality by Peixoto and Gonçalves (2014), Focus Group and semi-structured interviews. These tools made it possible to understand how historical changes, growing urbanization and technological advances have influenced interactions between the generations. The results show a transformation in the roles played by grandparents: while in the past they were authority figures and lived with their grandchildren daily, today they face challenges related to physical and digital proximity. The research also highlights the importance of passing on memories and cultural traditions, expressed in practices such as sharing stories and local celebrations. However, technology is often mentioned by grandmothers as an emotional distancing factor, limiting family interactions. Even with these challenges, traditions are still alive in Alpedrinha, passed down from generation to generation, and the bonds between grandparents and grandchildren continue to weave the community's identity, keeping alive the sense of belonging and continuity between generations. The data shows that, despite the changes in the way families live and relate to each other, grandparents continue to be an essential presence in their grandchildren's lives. They are the ones who keep and share stories, teach values and accompany the growth of the new generations, adjusting with affection and wisdom to the challenges of modern times. This project presents suggestions for interventions that promote active ageing and reinforce the importance of intergenerational relationships, which are fundamental for family cohesion and social well-being.
