Abstract(s)
O presente documento serve para a obtenção do grau de mestre em Design de
Vestuário e Têxtil da Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas do Instituto Politécnico de
Castelo Branco.
O design de figurinos é essencial para uma boa produção artística, sendo que ele é
um dos grandes responsáveis por dar vida às personagens.
Como tal, para a realização deste trabalho realizou-se um estágio na empresa Plural
Entertainment na área do guarda-roupa. Para além do estágio, foram apresentados
objetivos e questões relacionadas com o tema a ser explorado; aprofundou-se o
entendimento na área do design de figurinos através de uma pesquisa; os benefícios,
juntamente com os fatores de sucesso e insucesso; a disseminação e um cronograma
(planeamento temporal).
O trabalho foi dividido em três fases para uma melhor organização. A primeira fase
serviu para fazer uma pesquisa sobre as temáticas a explorar, o que é o figurino, a sua
história, significado de figurinista e as suas funções, entre outras. A segunda fase foi
feita em âmbito de estágio, onde a mestranda pode explorar o ambiente, pôr em prática
os conhecimentos já adquiridos e instruir-se mais sobre o mundo dos figurinos e o que
é ser figurinista. Fez-se também uma reflexão dos resultados obtidos nesta etapa.
Sendo que na última fase, com base na experiência adquirida durante o estágio, foi
proposto pelas orientadoras o desenvolvimento de um projeto de figurinos como
complemento ao estágio. Assim, foi selecionada a obra Alice no País das Maravilhas. A
proposta pretende desenvolver os figurinos da Alice, do Chapeleiro Louco e do Coelho
Branco. O projeto teve como inspiração a Era Vitoriana e o Steampunk utilizando
técnicas de upcycling e patchwork. A partir das pesquisas dos temas de inspiração e no
perfil psicológico e narrativo de cada personagem, foi desenvolvido o conceito e o
moodboard de cada personagem, definiram-se as paletas de cores, escolheram-se as
matérias-primas, elaboraram-se esboços a partir dos quais foram escolhidos os looks
finais. Fez-se a decupagem e criaram-se as fichas técnicas para cara personagem.
Abstract : This document serves to obtain the master’s degree in Clothing and Textile Design from the Superior School of Applied Arts of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. Costume design is essential for a good artistic production, and i tis one of the main responsible for giving life to the characters. As such, in order to carry out this work, an internship was carried out at Plural Entertainment in the wardrobe area. In addition to the internship, objectives and questions related to the theme to be explored were presented; understanding in the area of costume design was deepened through research; the benefits, together with the sucess and failure factors; dissemination and a timeline (time planning). The work was divied into three phases for better organization. The first phase served to carry out research on the themes to be explored, what is costume design, its history, costume designer meaning and functions, among others. The second phase was carried out as part of an internship, where the master’s student intends to explore the enviroment, put into practice the knowledege already acquired and learn more about the world of costumes and what it means to be a costume designer. There was also a reflection on the results obtained at this stage. Making a reflection of the results obtained in this step. In the last phase, and based on the experience acquired during the internship, the supervisors proposed the development of a costume design project as a complement to the internship. Therefore, the work Alice in Wonderland was selected. The proposal intends to develop the costumes for Alice, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit. The project was inspired by the Victorian Era and Steampunk, and is intended to use upcycling and patchwork techniques. From the research of the inspiration themes and the psychological and narrative profile of each character, the concept and moodboard for each character were developed, color palettes were defined, raw materials were chosen, sketches were made from which the final looks were chosen. The decoupage was done and the fact sheets for each character were created.
