Abstract(s)
Este artigo tem como objetivo central contribuir para a compreensão acerca do uso de referências a culturas indígenas latino-americanas no design têxtil moderno do século XX, postas em questão no contexto de uma abordagem crítica à colonialidade, pensando nos conceitos de “mestiçagem”, em De Moraes, e “hibridismo”, em Canclini. Aqui, especificamente, essas referências são observadas nos trabalhos de duas artistas e designers têxteis cujas produções dialogam com culturas indígenas em alguma medida: Klara Hartoch e Anni Albers. Num primeiro momento, o artigo introduz ambas as designers e suas trajetórias para, então, tentar estabelecer uma comparação sistemática entre algumas de suas obras, pensando em quatro categorias: referências, materiais, métodos/processos, e resultados alcançados. Finalmente, o artigo reflete a respeito de como as obras analisadas contribuem para a construção de um imaginário hegemônico sobre culturas indígenas que se dá ao longo do design moderno no século XX.
ABSTRACT: This article aims to contribute to the comprehension of the use of indigenous latin-a-merican references in 20th century modern textile design, questioned in the context of an approach that is critical of coloniality. Here, specifically, these references are observed in the works of two textile designers whose pro-ductions have been, to some extent, in dialogue with indigenous cultures : Klara Hartoch and Anni Albers. Firstly, the article introduces both designers and their respective trajectories and, secondly, it tries to stablish a systematic comparison between some of their pieces, thinking of four categories: references, materials, me-thods/processes, and achieved results. Finally, the article discusses how the analyzed works contribute to the construction of a colonialist imaginary regarding indigenous cultures that unfolds within 20th century modern design.
