França, Alexandra Silva; Rua, Orlando LimaThe main purpose of this study is to analyze the impact that entrepreneurial orientation, intangible resources and absorptive capacities assume in competitive advantage of Portuguese small and medium enterprises exporting footwear. To this end, we have adopted a quantitative methodological approach, conducting a descriptive, exploratory and transversal empirical study, having applied a questionnaire to a sample of Portuguese companies exporting footwear. From this study it was possible to conclude that the entrepreneurial orientation, intangible resources and absorptive capacities can enhance competitive advantage, either by differentiation or by cost, contributing all these determinants to the superior performance of Portuguese companies of the footwear industry in foreign markets.
