Abstract(s)
A partir de uma proposta em contexto educativo, este texto
visa refletir sobre o potencial da função social do design na
contemporaneidade e as possíveis formas de educar os futuros designers
no sentido da responsabilidade ética e da empatia com o outro. Assim,
procuramos mapear as metodologias de design na área do design social,
tendo como ponto de partida uma proposta de projeto de intervenção
social para os sem-abrigo, lançada no âmbito da Unidade Curricular de
Design da licenciatura em Artes Visuais e Tecnologias da Escola Superior
de Educação de Lisboa. Pretende-se, deste modo, questionar a associação
exclusiva do design e dos seus processos aos modelos de mercado e aos
produtos materiais e abrir o debate sobre os possíveis desígnios do design.
ABSTRACT : We analyze the social potential of contemporary design, and reflect on possible ways to cultivate ethical responsibility and empathy in future social designers. More specifically, will attempt to map out existing methods in the area of social design, starting from a social intervention project proposal focusing on the displaced, brought forward by the Design Curricular Unit of the Visual Arts and Technologies bachelors of the Lisbon Superior School of Education. Our aim is to question the exclusive association made between design, its methods, and market models and the final physical products these depend on. We hope this will open up the debate on the purpose of design.
