Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT : This paper comprises an analysis of some works by artistar tisans Anne Wilson (b. 1949) and Kathrin Stumreich (b. 1976) in which the intersection of cra, performance and technology is explored, while using texles. The merge of arsanal and digital techniques in their video, performance and parcipatory pieces brings about reflecons on the materiality of the arfact and the immateriality of the digital or performative work, the artist-artisan’s hand and body, along with the spectator’s body. The blend of handwork and technology in both artists’ pieces opposes to the so-called rivalry between these two fields; instead, it suggests that both generate connections, either at a literal or at a metaphorical level. From a metaphorical point of view, such interweavings may refer to the feminine, to domesticity, and to the impact of information and communication technologies on social relations.
