Abstract(s)
das radiodermites I e II (37,3% e 38,7% respetivamente). O HF
apresenta menos ESA e torna-se mais vantajoso
Abstract: The theme of this study is related to Radiotherapy treatment in breast cancer, in particular, the relationship between side effects and the fractionations, conventional and hypofractionation (HF). The main objective of this research is: To understand whether the type of fractionation selected, conventional fractionation (FC) or HF, will influence the side effects that arise and its severity. More specifically, to analyze the acute side effects present at the end of radiotherapy treatments and to describe good practices in order to reduce its occurrence. The study was based on data collection through research on all the symptoms described in the final treatment consultation of breast patients treated with external radiotherapy at the Radioncology Clinic in Évora and registered in the Journal (ARIA®). A sample of 150 patients was obtained and the results show that, in general terms, patients treated with HF schemes have fewer acute side effects, 41%, compared to those treated with FC, 59%, and also effects on earlier stages. In conclusion, CF is associated with a higher frequency of ESA compared to HF, with the exception of grade I radiodermatitis. Erythema (54%) was the most detected, followed by radiodermatitis I and II (37.3% and 38.7% respectively). In the total sample, it can be seen that 28 patients did not present symptoms, that is, 18.6%. HF has less ESA and becomes more advantageous
