Abstract(s)
Abstract: This report results from the completion of the Master’s degree in Interior Design and Furniture at the School of Applied Arts of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. It reflects the conclusion of the internship course unit, where I was able to put into practice, in a professional setting, the knowledge acquired during my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This curricular internship lasted 6 months and was carried out at the Moyo Concept Studio - Interior Design, Architecture, and Decoration, in the city of Porto. The document is divided into 5 chapters, namely: Introduction, Theoretical Framework, The City, The Internship, Projects, and Conclusion. In the “Theoretical Framework” chapter, a small investigation is developed on “The contribution of Interior Design to spatial organization in commercial spaces,” a topic related to one of the projects worked on during the internship at the company. The “City” chapter follows, presenting information about Porto in terms of geography, population, society, economy, history, and culture. It also presents the city’s architecture and some of its most well-known monuments, highlighting three important architects born in the city who designed significant works for Porto. In the “Company” chapter, the concept and history of Moyo Concept Studio, its team and partner brands, as well as its organizational system, target audience, and online store are presented. The “Internship” chapter follows, describing the work methodology developed during the internship, the tasks developed in the studio, and the tasks executed in the Interior Design and Furniture Design projects. Finally, in the “Projects” chapter, all 10 projects developed during the internship at the company are described, including Interior Design and Furniture Design works (with measurements, concept research, moodboards, technical drawings, 3D modeling, rendering, technical drawings for budgeting, and presentations for clients), as well as parallel tasks executed. This internship period allowed me to gain professional training experience, deepening the skills previously acquired, developing new skills, and having experiences that I could only obtain due to contact with the professional world.
