Abstract(s)
Abstract: This report is divided into two parts and it was developed as part of the curricular units of Supervised Teaching Practice and Artistic Teaching Project, which includes professional internship and a research project. In the first part are listed all the activities developed throughout the Supervised Teaching Practice, which took place at the Centro de Cultura Musical (CCM) in Santo Tirso with an 8th-grade student and the wind orchestra of the same year. The second part includes the research project aimed at understanding and analyzing the effects of applying different memorization methods on the performance of percussion students. The research focuses on understanding the main differences between more intuitive memorization methods centered on repetition and more deliberate methods that promote the development of different types of memory, particularly involving singing, methodical study organization, the use of study pads and harmonic analysis. The study also aims to assess the impact of evaluating the applied strategies on the evolution of the knowledge of percussion students (analyzing the effectiveness and speed of assimilation of studies and musical pieces) and their stage confidence. Using a case study methodology, this study involved five percussion students from the 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th grades and was complemented with interviews with seven teachers of the subject Percussion. The impact of the research was evaluated through the collection and analysis of semi-structured interviews and direct observation. The data obtained suggested a significant increase in the participants' musical confidence and security. A more consistent memorization process by the students lead to calmer and more focused approach in their stage performances. The intervention methodology that was used, which combined various elements such as voice, structured organization and harmonic analysis, also demonstrated greater effectiveness in understanding music, contributing to a more comprehensive development of the students as performers.
