Abstract(s)
Abstract: This report describes the work carried out by student Mariana Paulino Ferreira during her internship at Pulp Fashion, as part of the requirements for obtaining a master's degree in Clothing and Textile Design. The main aim of this curricular internship was to investigate the dynamics between stylists and influencers in the fashion industry, exploring topics related to fashion and trends, such as styling and stylists, as well as the role of digital influencers in fashion consumption. Pulp Fashion is a benchmark in the field of styling and image consultancy, offering a wealth of experience covering various areas of fashion, from editorials, catalogs, fashion shows, television closet styling, image consultancy and advertising. Throughout the internship period, which ran from September 2023 to March 2024, the master's student had contact with the various aspects of fashion styling, including image consultancy, editorial productions and participation in events in the sector. In recent years, the fashion industry has been marked by significant transformations, driven mainly by the rise of social media and the growing influence of digital influencers. These digital personalities have gained a prominent position in the promotion and dissemination of trends, becoming influential figures in the fashion world. On the other hand, stylists have played a crucial role behind the scenes in the industry, contributing significantly to the creation of images and the construction of fashion identities. These specialized professionals have the expertise to combine garments, accessories and make-up, creating looks and productions that reflect the latest trends and convey a coherent visual message. In this context, the research question arises: What is the nature of the relationship between stylists and influencers in the fashion industry: a dynamic of competition or collaborative partnership? Using an interventional methodology based on qualitative research techniques, namely an interview, this report seeks to highlight the intrinsic dynamics of the relationship between these two professional groups.
