Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The Specialized Artistic Education was created with the intention of being able to promote an artistic education in our country. There is also an initiation regime (first cycle), however, without total funding, causing the existence of students with different levels in the first grade. The most widely used and well-known violin teaching methods in Portugal do not have an efficient applicability to the exisng system, because the authors of those methods were foreign, the methods were created for different realities and adapted to earlier ages than the entry into the first degree (5th grade). Being aware of a method developed by S. Shalman, a Russian violin educator, in which the author affirms that students who begin their violin learning at more advanced ages can, with the help of this method, quickly reach the corresponding level to their age. The objective of this research was to verify if this method is applicable to the Portuguese reality and if it´s able to respond to the needs of the existing system.
